Fresh From the Field: Launching Our Farm-to-Campus Program with Restore Merced Farms

We’re thrilled to announce a brand-new partnership between UC Merced Dining and Restore Merced Farms, launching this fall as part of our commitment to bringing local, seasonal, and sustainable produce directly to our students.

This collaboration is more than just fresh vegetables—it’s a connection to the land, to community restoration, and to food with purpose.

Restore Merced Farms is already starting to grow a vibrant selection of vegetables for our dining program, including crisp cucumbers, colorful peppers, and several tomato varieties. These ingredients will make their way from the field to our dining centers this late summer—picked at peak ripeness and served with care.

One of the most exciting parts of this partnership is our plan to feature heirloom vegetables in catering—rare, flavorful varieties that you won’t find in a typical grocery store. These will be showcased at our VIP and campus events, giving students, faculty, and guests the opportunity to taste something truly special and perhaps even unfamiliar.

By supporting Restore Merced Farms, we’re investing in more than just quality ingredients—we’re investing in local food systems, second-chance employment, and the power of community resilience.

You can support their mission too. Restore Merced Farms offers a summer Shareholder Produce Package for just $50, which includes a selection of fresh, locally grown seasonal vegetables. It’s a great way to eat well, support second-chance employment, and be part of a growing movement for food justice and local resilience.

This is just the beginning of our farm-to-campus journey, and we can’t wait to share the harvest with you.
